As a long time developer of interactive multimedia, I have enjoyed creating applications that invite people to immerse themselves in the content whether it's playful phone apps or physical experiences like creating mutations on a giant DNA sculpture, or catching virtual T-shirts in a stadium.
As an employee and a freelancer, I have taken many projects from requirements docs - or sometimes just verbal descriptions - to completed products. I've been fortunate to participate in most phases of creation: developing the concepts, shaping the interaction and UI, and choosing the best tools to achieve a client's objectives. I take great pride in my history of creating solid functional, thoroughly tested applications and providing support and maintenance throughout their deployments.
My first "real" job, in the newly formed Media group within the American Museum of Natural History's Exhibition Department, presented fabulous opportunities to imagine and then build innovative exhibits that communicated complex scientific concepts to visitors of all ages. This was an incredible environment to experiment with cutting edge technologies along side budget DIY solutions. Each exhibit presented new possibilities and challenges, and I came to see my job as continuously learning how to learn. New tech, new languages, new software, new platforms. I continue to apply this perspective to my work and personal life.

When I'm not working, you'll very likely find me in my sea kayak on the ocean practicing skills and working towards my ACA Level 3 Coastal Kayak Instructor Certification.
I have been a developer of interactive multimedia for nearly 20 years, working as a programmer, with contributions to concept development, interaction design and user interface design. My projects have ranged from educational exhibits, immersive 3D games with physical interfaces, web and mobile applications. I particularly enjoy creating software that invites people to immerse themselves in the content whether through an engaging phone app that is addictive to play or a physical experience, like shooting a fabricated bow and arrow at virtual ships, manipulating a giant DNA sculpture, playing pinball with parasites, or catching virtual T-shirts in a stadium.
My history has been one of constantly learning new skills, technologies, languages and platforms. At my first "real" job in the brand new Media group in the American Museum of Natural History's Exhibition Department, I was privileged with many opportunities to strategize and build innovative exhibits that communicated complex scientific concepts to visitors of all ages. This was an incredible environment to experiment with cutting edge technologies along side budget DIY solutions. Because everything was so new and each exhibit had different needs, I saw my job as constantly learning how to learn. New tech, new languages, new software... I continue to see my job as always learning.
As an employee and a freelancer, I have taken many projects from concept or requirements docs to completed products, some that have run for years. I have been fortunate to experience all phases of creation: helping to develop the concepts, shaping the interaction and UI, and choosing the best tools to achieve the client's objectives. I take great pride in my history of creating solid functional, thoroughly tested applications and providing support and maintenance throughout their deployments.
